Classic Vegan Gravy

Classisc Vegan Gravy
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made this gravy and love it more each time! It’s so easy to make and goes on more than just your holiday roast.
Try it on chicken and waffles, sausage and biscuits, or in a poutine (French fries, cheese & gravy). You can change up the flavor profile by adding different herbs / spices or using a different flavored broth. For example swapping in a vegan beef broth and a dash of liquid smoke.
The Turkey Roast pictured below is so delicious and is from All Vegetarian Inc.
Gravy recipe serves 4 (can easily be doubled)
Ingredients
3 Tbsp (45g) Vegan Butter
3 Tbsp (45g) Flour
2 cups (473ml) warm Vegetable or Vegan Chicken Broth ( I make one from hot water and Better Than Boullion Vegetable Base)
1 tsp (5g) Thyme, chopped fine
1/2 tsp (2.5g) Poultry Seasoning
1/4 tsp ground Sage
1 tsp (5ml) Vegan Worcestershire Sauce
Salt & Pepper to taste
Note: If your gravy becomes too thick, add more liquid in the form of water or broth a 1/4 cup at a time until you reach desired consistency.
Directions
1.In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
2. Add in the flour and mix together until well incorporated.
3. Cook and mix until it forms a thick paste like consistency and takes on a golden color, about 2-3 minutes.
4. Add in the broth a little at a time as you whisk it into the flour butter mixture. Repeat until you have added all the broth.
5. Bring the mixture to a soft boil and add the herbs and seasonings and mix well.
6. Lower the temperature to med-low and let the gravy simmer stirring occasionally as it thickens. This will take about 10 minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!
