Tater Tot Poutine

This Poutine is a slightly different take on the classic from my childhood. Subed out the French Fries (sorry fries) for Tater Tots because why not Tots??



1 Package of Tater Tots

1/2 Pacakge of Shredded Smoked Mozzarella (I used Good Planet Foods)

1/3 cup Unsweetened Nut Milk (for the cheese)

5 Tbsp of Vegan Butter

5 Tbsp of Flour

2 1/2 cups of Unsweetened Nut Milk ( I prefer Cashew)

1/2 tsp of Thyme

2 Tbsp of Liquid Aminos or a light Tamari

2 tsp of Vegan Worcestershire Sauce (Annie’s Homegrown and Edward & Sons both make a Vegan one)

Salt & Pepper to Taste


1.Bake the Tater Tots according to package directions

2. On Med-Low heat melt the shredded cheese with the 1/3 cup nut milk. Make sure to keep strring to help melt the shreds (use a whisk if necessary). Keep covered and warm until assembling the Poutine

For the Gravy

1.Melt the butter on medium heat. Once melted add the flour and mix well until light golden brown

2. Add in the seasonings and slowly add the milk a little at a time. Stir the mixture as it thickens and until all the milk has been added

3. Lower heat until ready to use

Assemble the Poutine

1.In a large bowl or plate, arrange a layer of Tater Tots

2. Alternate the melted cheese and gravy until a good portion of the Tots are covered
