Horseradish Cheddar Burgers

These Burgers are so flavorful on their own but with the extra topping of delicious Horseradish Slaw they become awesome! I like my burgers to be juicy, flavorful and have a bit of crunchy texture. These definitely fit that bill. They’re easy to make and are perfect in the pan or on the grill.

Serves 3 (or you can make two jumbo burgers)

Ingredients

12 oz ( 340g) of Vegan Ground (I like both Impossible and Beyond Meat)

3 slices of Vegan Cheddar Cheese (I like Violife and Follow Your Heart brands)

3-4 Tbsp (45g-60g) prepared Horseradish (I used Bubbies)

1 Tbsp (15ml) Vegan Worcestershire Sauce

Salt & Pepper to taste

3 Hamburger Buns ( I used a Vegan Brioche Bun)

1 Tbsp of Vegan Butter

3 slices of Red Onion

3 hearty Lettuce leaves

Optional: Serve with Dill Pickles (Bubbies are my favorite!)

Horseradish Coleslaw

15 oz (425g) Cole Slaw Cabbage Mix (you can make your own by combining Red and Green Cabbage and Carrots)

3/4 cup (177ml) Vegan Mayo

3-4 Tbsp (45g-60g) prepared Horseradish (I used Bubbies)

2 Tbsp (30ml) Apple Cider Vinegar

1 tsp (5g) of Sugar

1/2 tsp (2.5g) Celery Seed

1 tsp (5g) Dry Mustard Powder

Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions

1.Make the Slaw by adding the Cabbage and Carrot mix to a large bowl. Combine the Vegan Mayo, Horseradish, Apple Cider Vinegar, Sugar, Celery Seed and Dry Mustard and mix thoroughly. Pour over the Slaw and toss until well coated. Season with Salt & Pepper and refrigerate until ready.

2. In a bowl, gently mix the Vegan ground with the Horseradish, Vegan Worcestershire, Salt & Pepper. Spilt into three equal parts and form patties.

3. Melt the Butter in a large skillet/frying pan. Place the Hamburger Buns cut side down for about 1 minute to lightly toast them. Set aside.

4. Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes on each side. Add a slice of Cheese to each patty once you flip them.

5. Add about a Tbsp of Water and cover your pan for the last 1 1/2 minutes of cooking time. This will create steam which helps melt the cheese.

6. Build your Burger by placing the Lettuce on the bottom Bun. Add your cooked patty with Cheese and top with a slice of Onion and plenty of Horseradish Slaw.

7. Serve with Dill Pickles and an extra side of Horseradish Slaw
